All stories

From timing to what you'll actually see: a calm, clear walkthrough of your first reassurance scan.

The first time you see your baby on screen is unforgettable, and a little nerve-wracking. Knowing what to expect makes the moment feel as reassuring as it should.

When and why

An early reassurance scan from around seven weeks can confirm a healthy pregnancy, check dating, and, most movingly, let you see and hear the heartbeat.

What you'll see

Early on, your baby is tiny, so don't expect a detailed profile yet. We'll walk you through every part of the image, and you'll leave with prints and a digital copy to keep.
